„Finally: History class, that rocks!“

Den Autor kennt man allenfalls aus dem Kleingedruckten, als Produzenten: Joe Boyd. Aber wenn man liest, wen und was er alles aus nächster Nähe erlebt hat, schlackert man nur mit den Ohren (…) Über Fairport Convention  erfährt man einiges, ebenso über die Incredible String Band, John Cale, und und und. Und über Bob Dylans legendäres Konzertdebut mit einer Rockband 1965, und Woodstock, und und und. Alles aus erster hand. So formt sich ein Mosaik aus Anekdoten, Portraits und szenischen Beschreibungen, eine Folge von Nahaufnahmen, die selten in die analysierende Totale wechseln. Derartiges könnte sich leicht zu einer Ansammlung von Kuriosa und Banalitäten summieren. Doch eine scharfe Beobachtungsgabe und ein konturierter Stil formen daraus ein Kapitel der Zeitgeschichte.
